What is a Weekend Seminar Like?
Here are a some photos taken during seminar sessions.
The seminar schedules vary (there are 5 different seminars), but a sample schedule might look something like this:
As you can see in the photos above, the attire during the seminar is generally sweats or loose clothing. Avoid wearing thick materials because this reduces the "feel" during Kiatsu training. Meals are taken in the school and are a good time to ask questions or socialize. The school orders in a lunch on each day for a nominal cost of $5.00. There are usually 3 or 4 different lunches that can be ordered. The school also orders in a dinner on Saturday night, usually from a local Japanese restaurant. Again, there are several options. The cost is $9.00. For breakfast we usually go to a nearby restaurant. There is also a neighborhood Starbucks. In terms of accommodations, out of town students are welcome to sleep on the mat in the adjacent Aikido dojo. Sleeping mats are provided but no bedding, so a sleeping bag is required. The dojo has separate dressing rooms and showers for men and women. As an alternative, there is a convenient hotel with reasonable rates 2 blocks from the school. The hotel costs about $35.00 per night per person (double occupancy). From Orange County the best airline in terms of schedule and service is Alaska Airlines. Reservations made well in advance usually cost between $200.00 and $250.00. Special items to bring:
